Sorry Johnny

Three friends in a Coffeehouse

Katrin, Flo, and Johannes run Sorry Johnny together. Katrin takes care of the guests, Flo mans the bar, and Johannes handles the kitchen.

Well, technically… because just as often, they switch roles, with each stepping in for the other.

Everything here flows effortlessly, hand in hand.

It’s clear at first glance - and taste, that these friends love being hosts.

That’s why this tiny café in Haidhausen isn’t just our top breakfast spot in Munich, but, above all, a place where you feel right at home - in the truest sense - with friends.

A barista stands at the counter in front of a green tiled wall. On the left are oat milk and a beer bottle, on the right a cake display with bundt cake and two more cakes on glass plates.

In front of a bottle-green tiled wall, the bar stretches almost the entire length of the small room.

From every seat, we can watch as Flo, with the calm precision of a pro, prepares each coffee perfectly and with care.

This is almost symbolic of everything at Sorry Johnny – where ever you look, there’s a deep attention to detail and a calm, friendly atmosphere, even when the weekend rush has people lining up for a seat.

The homemade cakes in the pretty display case at the other end of the counter taste, in the best way, just like Grandma’s.

The fragrant French toast comes with homemade jam and ricotta.

Two slices of French toast coated with cinnamon sugar rest on a light plate, served with a dollop of whipped cream and red fruit sauce. The plate sits on a wooden table under warm light.

For their delicious sandwiches, they use the good sourdough bread from Julius Brantner.

My favorite is the one topped with melted Gruyère, served with lovingly homemade pear jam and tangy pickles.

Four slices of dark bread topped with melted cheese and spring onions are arranged on a plate. In the background: small bowls with pickles and onion jam, and a cup of coffee on a wooden table.

Fresh flowers are scattered throughout.

The ceramic tableware has a cozy, Scandinavian look, paired with sleek black cutlery.

Two cappuccinos with latte art sit on a grey table, alongside slices of marble cake and carrot cake with icing. A hand holds a fork. A vase with carnations and a sugar jar complete the scene.

The kitchen door is always open, and the three owners are just as open and welcoming.

So we have more than just three good reasons to love Sorry Johnny.

The exterior shows the black and white Sorry Johnny logo above the entrance. A stylized clock is reflected in the window in the background.
